We were delighted to be able to open our doors and invite our families and friends into our garden for our Summer Fair on Friday 23rd July. The weather was glorious and our residents were all in good spirits.
The event was started by Rob Steele who entertained us with songs from the 50s and 60s – there was plenty of clapping and foot tapping from both residents and their loved ones!
Our sweets and treats stall was a great success and our cocktails went down a treat! Our fabulous chef Nicola made a selection of French Martini, Gin Fizz and Strawberry Mojitos while there was plenty of wine and beer to keep the party going. Dan was once again manning our barbecue and one guest commented ‘the burgers were the best we’ve ever tasted’.
Karl’s bottle stall was very popular and sold out within minutes, before he was locked in the stocks! Our residents (and staff!) loved watching him being soaked with wet sponges.
The raffle was very popular, and we had some fabulous prizes to be won. We’d like to thank Greggs and Next for their generous donations, as well as some local businesses including McKeevers Chemist, The Volunteer Canteen Pub and Tapas Tapas restaurant. A huge thank you to all our visitors and staff for their prize donations too.
We’re very fortunate to have been gifted a Liverpool shirt signed by football legend Jamie Carragher. We are holding a separate raffle for this which will close on Friday 6th August, so make sure you get your ticket for this to be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize.
Thanks to your generous donations, this event has raised over £1,000 for our Resident’s Fund!
Our event was kept covid secure by ensuring all staff and visitors had negative lateral flow test results before entering the grounds on the day.
