Dynamic Dunescapes

Natalie from Dynamic Dunescapes visited us on 24th August to run a sensory and reminiscence session themed on the local beaches in Sefton. Natalie brought lots of interesting objects from the local coastline for us to see, smell and touch, including seaweed, ray eggs and catshark eggs, a star fish and a finch nest. She shared lots of interesting facts about the things we can find on our local beaches. We also enjoyed sharing stories of going to the seaside, and looking at old photographs of the Southport outdoor paddling pool.
We finished the session with a sandcastle building competition, which brought back lots of memories of happy times at the beach.

Dynamic Dunescapes is a new project to restore sand dunes across England and Wales for the benefit of wildlife, people and communities. Their Sefton project is led by volunteers in partnership with Natural England at Ainsdale NNR and National Trust at Formby.
